Needle Felted Wool Dolls and Other Sculptural Works of Fiber Art
My soft sculptured character dolls were inspired by real people that I have either known personally or simply noticed from afar. They are not meant to be exact replicas but are instead altered egos of "familiar others".

Trying My Hand At Felted Vessels
Almost finished...another great learning experience!
My Grandpa Bryant was a beekeeper and a wonderfully kind and funny man. He taught me about the bees and the tall oak trees. I walked with him in the woods, a "Jody Blond" 5-year-old, my wee little hand in his very large one, looking up wide-eyed as he explained the ways of nature. He taught me how to find wild muscadine grapes and we would eat them until our lips puckered and our mouths turned white from these deliciously acidic fruits.
My Grandma Bryant always had Grandpa's honey with comb on the kitchen table in a pretty glass dish that I still have. She churned butter and formed "cat-head" biscuits with her hands. She birthed eleven children, kneading dough in a big aluminum dishpan was necessary. She let me trade fresh brown eggs for cornflakes from the rolling store.
I grew up knowing good people and so that's who I am today.

Stephanie Metz - Sculptor of Wool
I love the work of this artist. Stephanie Metz has taken the art of needle felting wool to the next level...beyond simple crafting to fine art sculpture. Follow this link to see more of her work.
This little guy was my very first attempt at needle felting and, as you can plainly see, I had no idea what I was doing. But he does make a pretty good Photoshopped ghost, doesn't he?
